But a new glowing review from the foodie folks at the Michelin Guide has put Ahmet Dede’s second Baltimore restaurant Baba’de firmly on the map alongside his Michelin-starred Dede dining room.
“With a name meaning ‘Baby Dede’, this second Baltimore venture from Chef Ahmet Dede is an ode to his family and comes with all the homespun charm you’d expect.” the reviewers say in the latest edition of the esteemed Guide.
“Located mere feet away from his acclaimed flagship restaurant, this is a more relaxed affair but the great value sharing plates retain the older sibling’s ethos of Turkish flavours married with Irish produce. Each dish – from a unique take on oyster chowder to Ahmet’s signature ‘içli köfte’ – is bright, fresh and wholly satisfying.”
Thanking the publication for the inclusion, Chef Dede said the success of the new spot is down to his team, including head chef Ali Siyar and business partner Maria Archer.
“What this special building means to me is more than a restaurant, more than home,” he posted on Instagram.
“l have a very special connection and history and seeing it blooming and becoming a great restaurant and serving the food we serve here is inspiring every day.”
